Look Out New York

Hey all - I know San Francisco has just now started recovering and re-stocking their Jack Daniels, but now I'm making my way to New York for some shows with Baby Wants Candy at the fantastic Barrow Street Theatre.

Performance Schedule

September 27th at 9PM
September 28th at 10PM
September 29th at 10PM
September 30th at 9PM

About the Show

Baby Wants Candy (BWC) asks the audience for a title of a musical that has never been performed before. The first title they hear then becomes the title and basis for that evening's 60 minute completely improvised musical. BWC is accompanied by a full band.

To get your tickets click on the Barrow Street Theatre link above.

Hope to see you all there!

If enough people e-mail and request a listener get together we'll make it happen.
It wouldn't hurt for someone to suggest a place we meet too.
Most evenings I'm there I'll be doing shows, but we could always meet at the show and grab drinks after.

Lemme know

I CAN'T WAIT! New Joni!

I can hardly wait.

Joni has a new CD coming out!

It's on the Starbucks music label "Hear Music" which kinda grosses me out - but anything to get more Joni material.

Doug found me a blog that has Joni's thoughts/quotes on each of the new tracks. Read More Here

Set to come out the same day is a new Herbie Hancock CD called "River: the Joni Letters" which will be his covers/reimagining of a lot of her classic stuff. There's some awesome guest vocalists on it and I can't wait for that either.

Did I Mention the Part. . . .

Where I'm Seeing Lynda Carter (yes, Wonder Woman) tonight?

It's been quite the week - first Katey Sagal, then Debbie (I'm sorry DEBORAH) Gibson (pictures to come - I promise) and now Wonder Woman.

I've been obsessed with this lady since I was in pre-Kindergarten. I can't wait to hear her cabaret act tonight!

If you're in the Chicago area she's at the Apollo theatre all week.

This just in...

Umm.... HA!

This blessed me today...

So, I sat down this morning to eat breakfast and read the paper and in today's Chicago Tribune there was an article about this guy that does a stupid dance. While I was thinking to myself, "here's another douche bag doing shit on YouTube." I read the article and actually I was kinda moved by the idea. Yes it is a man doing a stupid dance, but just look at the beautiful world we live in...

And on the other hand...

America with a "Z"

Patrick called me while I was still in S.F. to warn me about about this.

Dear God - Bless Liza and America, please.

I love that she looks like she raided John Travolta's headbands from Stayin' Alive.

Whoa - the tempo change - yikes.

This week on The Purge: Mario Spinetti

This week on The Daily Purge, instead of a story, I will be interviewing the AMAZING singer/songwriter Mario Spinetti. I have been fan-girly over this one for months now and I can't wait to finally get to talk to him. He has a new album coming out very soon so go check him out.
Here is his MySpace page

ALSO, Rob will be back from San Fran and I'll get to hear all the naughty details of the listener party. I hear it was off the hook... (do the kids still say that?)

The new show will be posted on Wednesday! Give it a listen! Tell your friends!

Congrats Kathy!

SO, at the "schemmy's" (the non-broadcasted technical Emmys) last night, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List won the Emmy for Best Reality Program. If you recall she talked about last year's experience losing to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on her most recent comedy special. Well, this year the nominees were exactly the same (Antiques Roadshow, Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, and Kathy) and our girl came out victorious! Let's face it, of these shows, her's is by far the best.

Congrats Kathy!

So hungover

So the listener party. . . . .

So much Jack Daniels. They know how to pour it at Mix on 18th.

I'm horrible with names - but I met a lot of our fun (and may I say CUTE!) listeners.

Thanks to everyone for coming to see me!

And keep in touch!

Tim Gunn is hot... I'll take him... wrap him up!

RIP - King of the High C's

The world of opera has lost a shining star. Luciano Pavarotti died at the age of 71. I remember the first time I hear him sing Nessun Dorma (see clip below) I was 12 years old and I sat in my room and cried my eyes out. It was actually right then that I knew I wanted to be a singer. I will miss my Pav. May he rest in peace. On a side note: he dyed is hair to the end... you would never find one gray hair on his head... I think that's awesome.

We are getting closer...

Steve Jobs announced that effective immediately, The iPhone is now just $399. I WANT IT! So there is it universe... bring it to me.

For all you listeners that have an iPhone, now that you have used it for awhile, what's the verdict? Pro's AND Con's please :)

Doug, Katey Sagal, and ME!

So Doug and I are on vacation in the Bay Area - we've already had some good times with Sara D from Howmuchdowelove - and did our best to drink our way through Napa.

Well tonight we went to the legendary Plush Room in San Francisco and saw Katey Sagal do her cabaret/rock act. I thought I would be reporting a lot of campy, linewalker, Peg Bundy stories - but no. It was an AMAZING show. She's so damn good.

Some of you know, but for the youngins out there - she has done lots of music before including one of the Harlettes (Bette Midler's background singers)

Here she is with Linda Hart (of HAIRSPRAY fame) and Ula Hedwig

Anyway - I fucking loved her show

And if you're in the bay area I think you should check her out. She was amazing!!!

Remember her sisters' 80s sitcom?

The View starts season 11... Whoopi! (get it?)

So, for all of you that still watch The View, Whoopi Goldberg started today, taking over for Rosie. I personally think she wasn't so bad and I'm excited to see what comes this year. But, I will say the new set is totally UGS... gives me a headache and if that wasn't bad enough, looking at Elizabeth's hot pink dress against it made me not like her even more.

SO, what do you think kids? (those that watch The View)
