It's no secret that Rob and I LOVE our home state of Iowa. Well, today... this happened:
Wrote Judge Robert B. Hanson in the ruling regarding the Same-Sex Marriage Ban currently in place: "This court has yet to hear any convincing argument as to how excluding same-sex couples from getting married promotes responsible reproduction in general or by different-sex couples in particular. So far as this court can tell (the law) operates only to harm same-sex couples and their children." Then he ordered the county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Yes, it will probably be short lived, what with the appeals already rolling from the haters, but for now... you really ought to give Iowa a try!
Read all about it, right here!
I'm headed to San Francisco for vacation!
While I'm out there Sara and I from How Much Do We Love are hosting a listener party/get together.
Friday, Sept 7th @ 7:30

Ok - so this clip is supposed to show a kid getting the crap scared out of him by his Mom
but I have to say except for the fact that I was lip syncing to "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" this could could have been me.

My favorite video podcast, "Cute With Chris" posted this picture and frankly, I just could help myself but to share all of it's glory with you. Now, when I got my high school senior pictures, I also took pictures with my two dogs but it was more of an outdoor with a sweater "fun playing with my dogs" type of pose. This guy... well... his pussy is a bit more fancy. Black tie required.

Yesterday, Chicago was hit by a HUGE storm. Our friend Ryan and his friend Jenny were stranded at the mall and decided to take shelter in The Disney Store. So, what better to do to pass the time then try on some costumes... look at how cute/creepy they are.... What is not to love about these?
Thanks to Ryan for letting me post these... :)

As many of you know I'm headed to the Bay Area soon.
I'll be there the 2-11th of September
I'm planning a couple nights in San Fransico, a couple nights with Sara D in Silicon Valley, and hopefully a trip into wine country.
What are you must-sees, must-drinks, must-eats in the Bay Area?
We love to poll the people.

So one of my most favorite shows in the world is The Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten
Well Ina has her hubby Jeffery on a lot, and sometimes her friend Edwina, Michael the florist, and Miguel who does super gay tablescapes.
But I LIVE for when her hot friend TR is on. Today she was making food for a party he was having and giving him tips on entertaining. I'm just saying HOT HOT HOT and I'd love to get a tip or more from him.
Here's a British Airways commercial he starred in and the pictures from the Hampton society pages. He's a hotty model - lots of times is in the Barney's catalogs. And yeah. I heart him.

Now I'm not really one to read horoscopes... just really not my jam. BUT today, was a good one for the Scorpios... check this shit out:
"Your love life gets a boost as your personal magnetism flies off the charts. If you're single, it's easy to attract the right kind of attention. If you're partnered, they won't know what hit them!"
Release the stars baby... release the stars.

I know I don't talk about my life with Soap Operas, but yes, I do watch a few... what? Can't I have a guilty pleasure... besides Big Brother that is... Anyway, FINALLY on As The World Turns the HOT HOT HOT gays kissed... we have been blue balling ALL damn summer and they, at long last, gave us a smooch.
How hot is this?

Seeing Debbie Allen on So You Think You Can Dance this week was such a treat. She is truly one of the people in this world that are bested with the gift of encouragement and I adore her. I want her to be a permanent fixture on the judges panel next year.
Just for good measure...
Just for good measure...
Maybe it's all of the French Cat Chardonnay talkin' but its starting to hit me that this coming weekend is the beginning of the end for my vocal trio Foiled Again. We've been calling the last three shows our "Farewell for Now" - but I have this really sad feeling that this is it.
One of our faboo trio is moving to Seattle and we couldn't be happier for her - it just means the end of the planning, the fun rehearsals, the lunchtime get togethers, and the amazing shows.
None of us have ever made Foiled Again our top priority - that has always been the key to our success with it - and maybe the key to it never really taking off. But when I think of all of the things and shows and ensembles I've been a part of in Chicago THIS is the thing I am most proud of. The music we make together is amazing and fun and weird and very much a statement of who we are. We've performed at Davenport's, The Speakeasy, The Theatre Building, Charlie Trotter's (what a hell-hole), The Drake Hotel (again, what a DUMP), Millenium Park, The Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Humanities Festival, The Gentry, The Wrigley Building, Lakeshore Theatre, and a couple of months ago we opened for Lesley F-ing Gore.
But more than the music - what a great group of friends. When we started this group 2 of us were married, 1 single. Now the single one is married and the other 2 are not. We've literally seen each other through the good and bad. I feel like any moment in my life when I've had good or bad news come my way these have been two of the first people, and in some cases only people I've shared that with.
maybe it is the Chardonnay talking. But they know me and know that I would say all of this shit to them too.
All I'm saying is this - if you're in Chicago in the next couple of weeks come share these last few shows with us. We have three shows - and each one is gonna be different.

"If there's a group performing tighter, more intricate harmonies, I
haven't heard them" - Chicago Sun-Times
"Just wait until you hear this vocal trio harmonize - you won't be
disappointed. . . . Give this trio a piano, three microphones and a
good songbook and there isn't any tune it can't conquer. DON'T MISS"
- Time Out Chicago
"As solo artists these young vocalists are entertaining, yet
remarkably different. It is however in the trio numbers where this
group especially shines. . . .The clean close harmonies recall the
Andrew Sisters, but sexier" - Cabaret Hotline Online
"Sometimes raucously funny, sometimes warmly tender, and sometimes sizzling"
"One of the finest vocal collaborations in the city" - Gay Chicago
"endlessly entertaining. . . effortless and entrancing three-part
harmonies that are unequalled in Chicago. . . . [a] charming witty and
melodious success" - Cabaret Scenes Magazines
