The JMH Book Club Update

Hey all y'all book clubsters...

So, after getting feedback from many of you, I have decided to drop the monthly reading list from 3 books to 1. Mainly because some people don't have time for to read that much, which is totally cool.

SO, I'm going to start discussing April's books on the other other show, "I know how it is..." this coming week. If you want to write in to give your thoughts on any of the books so I can read them on the air, please send those to bookclub@jmichaelhaas.com
or call them in at 206-984-3188

And check back on the JMH Book Club website (http://jmhbookclub.blogspot.com/) tomorrow for May's selection.

Of all of the bull-shit, made up holidays, this one is my fav. I got balloons, fresh cut flowers, free lunch at the Wolfgang Puck, and an AmEx Gift Card. Love it, love it so hard.

The 2007 Drink of the Summer!

Last night Rob and I headed over to the Sidetrack EXTREMELY early and I'm sure we'll talk about this more on the tonight's show, but there were samples being handed out for the new Absolut Pears (why Pears and not just Pear? who knows) and it is SO DAMN GOOD!

So, every year I have a drink of the summer, last year it was Vanilla and Diet, but this year it will be Pears and Seven baby... PEARS AND SEVEN!

Go try it!

Hell Yes

My friend the fabulous BT texted today that she had an extra ticket to the final dress of "The Color Purple" here in Chicago at the Palace.

I really enjoyed it.

Felicia Fields has come back to Chicago to reprise her Tony-Nominated role of Sophia. The production also stars Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child fame as Shug and American Idol castoff LaToya London as Nettie.

Its not a perfect show - but it was a great night at the theatre nonetheless. Go see it ladies.

Ready for my first day of school.

So yesterday I got a bit of a make over. On Rob's advice, I invested in a "fancy" (ie- expensive) hair-cut. Then I got my new glasses, which I have to wear for the next few weeks due to my bout with pink-eye. So here it is...

LOVE BOAT MUSICAL

God Bless YouTube - watch these 3 clips in order - pure gay delight

Ethel Merman singing "Kiss Today Goodbye" from Chorus Line - or Carol Channing singing "You're the Cream in My Coffee" is really nice

Love the disco version of "All I Need Now Is The Girl" from Gypsy - and the Follies ending is amazing.

I miss old TV

Countdown to Crazy

Tonight Doug and I are seeing Miss Diana Ross in concert.

I'm really excited. I've been getting reports from folks who recently saw her in other cities that she isn't in good voice - but honestly, that's not why I'm going I'm hoping for some absolutley bat-shit crazy talk.

*fingers crossed*

What's the caption or occasion for this picture?

F this Idol bullshit... let's DANCE!

After numerous weeks of mediocre singers on Idol, I can't F-ING WAIT for this season of "So You Think You Can Dance?" And now, to demonstrate my point on why the Dance Show is much better:

Exhibit 1: Blake McGrath (from Season One of SYTYCD):

Exhibit 2: Clay Aiken (on gay webcam):

Exhibit 3: Travis Wall (The should-have-been winner of Season Two of SYTYCD):

Exhibit 4: This Guy:

And just to make my point that much clearer:

COME ON NOW! THIS SHOW IS SO MUCH BETTER!

In Memory of Agnes Moorehead

So JHM and I are at Easter church and there's pages and pages of "In Memory" and "In Honor" listings for the Easter lillies that are on the alter. We were at a church with a large LGBT community. So listed: "In Memory of Agnes Moorehead" given by a gay couple. It was proof that I was in the right place.

My BIG Gunn

Tim Gunn (aka - My heart and one true love) had FINALLY made it official that he will be back for season four of Project Runway. My baby knows how to keep us in suspence... actually this is no surprise to anyone, but whenever I see him in the news I have to comment.

Robbie Recommends: SUSAN WERNER - THE GOSPEL TRUTH

So about a year ago I got to meet and hang out with one of my favorite songwriters. She told me about her idea for a new project that would address her Christian upbringing - and being from rural Iowa. You can imagine that I was thrilled.

Well tonight I saw her in concert at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music.

It was amazing.

AMAZING.

Not since GREY GARDENS have I been as excited about something.

Susan Werner, kids - check her out. She has re-invented herself yet again (she's kinda a "folky" - that I found when she started crossing over into jazz/cabaret music. In fact Foiled Again sang her "Stay on Your Side of Town" at our last show and Colleen McHugh recorded her "Movie of My Life"). Her new CD, called "The Gospel Truth" plays in a great roots rock, folk, bluegrass, country vibe - and the songwriting is wonderful. It asks a lot of questions about religion and God - and is happy not to have all the answers. But it is not mean - but really takes some punches at what mainstream religion has become. PLEASE check it out.

you can go to susanwerner.com and find out when/if she's coming near you - but run out and by her CD or get it on iTunes. Its the bomb! and my buddy Allison Bazarko sang backups with her tonight.

What a GREAT night of music. So happy!!!!!!
